Absolute cretins make this! AN updater that doesn't check compatability first, updates then complains and crwashes! Poorest example of software in modern history. Thanks guys! I suffer with an older Macbook anyway, and now you've disenfranchised me from my several groups I manage and expect to be found. I do not use my iPhone as a computer, hence my problem you have caused.

For those who can't run the app for any reason, you can use WhatsApp in a browser at https://web.whatsapp.com !
As Macvet22 wrote in his review, it's useless trying to install an old version of the app, it immediately updates to the latest, just to say that you can't run it and that you should use the web version instead...
So, all that follows applies to the web version, as I'm still on 10.14 ,while the current version of the app requires macOS 11, hopefully the app should behave about the same.
Until a few days ago, I thought I would never be able to use WhatsApp on my Mac, mainly because I thought you needed having the smartphone connected all the time while using the Desktop app... which seemed utterly stupid. 🤔
Instead no! You just need a smartphone with WhatsApp on it the first time, then the info is stored on the Mac (in a cookie, I guess, for the web version). I've been using it for one week without a glitch. The best thing is that you won't ever need to update! So why bother with an app? 😜
I've tried accessing the web app on a KaiOS phone (as WhatsApp stopped supporting them) but to no avail. 😉

The only interesting update would be to make the application available without this pandemic — the smartphone. The only problem is that the developer DOESN'T WANT to, who knows why ?
